Adding a product to your cart will not automatically redirect you to the cart. Click on the shopping trolley icon on the top right (square, to the right of the search bar) to be taken to your cart. From there, you can check out.
There is also a link in the green message that pops up when a product is added to the basket that will take you to your shopping cart.
